Classrooms from the past
Step back in time to see school rooms from the past
The room has been divided to recreate three classrooms. In the 1800’s classroom, students’ papers from the 1800’s (found in the attic of this building) are on the teacher’s desk. See a collection of old-style student desks, books, learning tools, and a wall map of the United States from 1984.
The center exhibit represents the 1940-50’s era. On the wall is a photo display from the estate of Verna Marohl who was a teacher for 49 years.
A kindergarten corner, with some original furniture, wooden toys, early children’s books, and records has been arranged in the third section.
Many of the artifacts in the Classrooms of the Past exhibit have come from past teachers.
“School Days—We Liked It Here”
Take a moment to read the letters of recollection from teachers who taught in the White Limestone School, some dating back to 1931.
